GRAVITY / MOMENTUM / ONE CHANGE
You flipped. Why are you still moving up?
Because changing the pull is not the same as changing the motion. Move one flip along the timeline and watch the turn happen later.
Try the free tool ↓An original motion model, not Fluxo gameplay, a reaction test or a reproduction of its physics.
THE INTERACTIVE WORKSPACE
Move the flip. Follow the momentum.
Start at rest. The model pulls upward at 1 unit/s² until your chosen flip, then downward at 1 unit/s². It has no walls, collisions, drag or speed cap.
Horizontal axis: elapsed seconds. Vertical axis: position in model units, with negative upward. Dashed curve previews the full path; bright curve shows progress. Pink line marks the flip.
Ready. Press Play or Step.
Playback advances model steps, not measured real-world seconds. You can use Step throughout; nothing moves automatically on page load. Switching tabs pauses playback.
USE IT IN REAL LIFE
The flip and the turn are two different moments.
Before the flip
The object begins at rest and gains upward speed. Negative velocity means upward movement in this diagram. Negative position means it is above its starting point.
At the flip
Acceleration switches from −1 to +1 unit/s². Position and velocity remain continuous: the object does not teleport or instantly reverse direction. While the velocity is still negative, the object keeps moving upward even though it is slowing down.
At the turn
Velocity reaches zero, then becomes positive. In this symmetric model, a flip at time f produces a turn at time 2f. A flip at 0.80 seconds therefore turns at 1.60 seconds. The highest position is −f² units, or −0.64 for that example.
The arithmetic behind the line
Before the flip: position = −t²/2 and velocity = −t.
After the flip: position = −f²/2 − f(t−f) + (t−f)²/2 and velocity = t−2f.
This is a deliberately small constant-acceleration model. Fluxo has game-specific movement, speed, collisions and hazards. The model explains a distinction; it does not tell you the correct tap time in the app.
Try three comparisons
- Set the flip to 0.40 seconds. Step to 0.80: velocity should be zero.
- Set it to 0.80. Step to 1.00: the pull is downward, but motion is still upward.
- Set it to 1.20. Compare the higher turning point at 2.40 seconds. More time accelerating upward means more momentum to reverse.
THE NEXT STEP
Take the idea into a real moving tunnel.
Fluxo is a one-tap gravity runner with mid-air re-flips, obstacles and changing sectors. Play Classic, Hyper or relaxed Zen mode, plus a daily course. The iPhone game works offline without an account.
Play Fluxo on iPhone ↗The official listing says the full game is playable free. Optional Premium is a one-time purchase, with double gold, free revives and removal of house-ad breaks. Other in-app purchases are listed. This browser model is separate from the game.
