PAY STATEMENT BRIDGEHow the worksheet works ↗

A little clarity for payday

Make your pay
statement add up.

Gross pay and the amount you receive are different numbers. Trace the amounts on your statement before comparing them.

Check the arithmetic ↓
Fictional example · one currency

Gross pay1,500.00

− Deductions310.00

+ Other additions45.00

= Calculated net1,235.00

A reimbursement is an example of an addition only if it belongs in this net payment and is not already included in gross.

01 / Your statement

Follow the numbers.

Use amounts from one statement, one payment and one currency. Enter totals already shown; this tool does not estimate deductions. Blank means unknown—enter 0 only when confirmed.

02 / The bridge

Gross − deductions
+ additions = net

Amounts stay in this page’s memory. There is no form submission or account. Refreshing clears your entries.

Before you draw a conclusion

A difference is a question.
Start with the source.

This is a statement-arithmetic worksheet, not a salary, tax or take-home-pay estimator. It cannot tell you which deductions apply or whether your pay is correct.

CHECK 01

Keep the period consistent.

Use the current payment column throughout. Mixing year-to-date deductions with current gross pay produces a misleading comparison.

CHECK 02

Separate a statement from a bank deposit.

A net payment can be split across accounts. Compare with the statement’s total net amount first. A single deposit may be only part of it.

CHECK 03

Ask which line explains the gap.

Review missing adjustments and repeated additions. If a line is a negative correction, or the statement uses different categories, this simplified worksheet may not fit. Ask payroll to explain the statement instead of forcing the numbers.

Common questions

Does this calculate my taxes?

No. Enter deduction totals you already have. The worksheet only subtracts and adds the supplied amounts, using exact cents.

Does a zero difference prove my pay is right?

No. It means these four entered totals are arithmetically consistent. Missing hours, incorrect rates or incorrect deductions can still exist inside totals that balance.

Why do I need to enter zero?

An empty field might mean you have not found the amount yet. The worksheet avoids silently treating missing information as nothing.

What if the calculated net is negative?

The arithmetic can be negative when deductions exceed gross plus additions. Review whether the inputs belong to the same payment and whether a correction or omitted line explains the result. This page cannot interpret your employer’s payroll rules.
